Do the proposals cover the same system?

| What to compare | Why it matters | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Appliance and flues named | A sweep of one flue is not the same as work on the whole system | Which appliances and flues are included? |
| Cleaning extent | Flue and smoke chamber cleaning is a different scope from brushing visible firebox bricks | Does the cleaning reach the flue and smoke chamber? |
| Inspection level and report | A routine check and a broader review answer different questions | Which inspection level applies, and what report will I receive? |
| Inaccessible areas | Limits on access affect what can be judged | Which areas could not be inspected? |
| Proposed repairs and exclusions | A cleaning price does not include repairs unless they are listed | What is excluded from this proposal? |

Which responsibilities need agreement?
- Property access, protection of floors and furniture, and cleanup after the visit.
- How findings will be documented, including photos and written reports.
- Which local approvals apply to the actual repair. Mishawaka, South Bend, Elkhart, and Goshen each have separate resources, so confirm the correct office for your property.
- Whether roof, gas, structural, or liner work is needed and who will perform it as separate qualified scope.

What to settle before work begins
- Agree on the actual price and the scope it covers, in writing.
- Confirm the schedule and the access arrangements before the visit.
- Decide how additional findings or changes will be approved before any extra work begins.
- Ask for any actual warranty terms in writing, including what is covered and excluded.
